World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) was celebrated on May 17, 2019, with a theme of “Bridging the Standardization Gap”. It is celebrated on May 17 every year since 1969 because on this day the first International Telegraph Convention was signed and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) was created. This year, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The purpose to celebrate this day is to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.
