Explanation:
World Vitiligo Day (WVD) was observed on June 25, 2019. It is aimed to build global awareness about Vitiligo and to fight misconceptions regarding chronic skin disorder. The theme for this year is “The Quality of Life of a Vitiligo Patient”. Vitiligo is a skin disease where pale white patches start forming on the skin due to lack of melanin, a skin pigment. The first WVD was observed in 2011.The day is observed as a memorial to Michael Jackson, an American singer, songwriter and dancer, who suffered from vitiligo from the early 1980s until his death on June 25, 2009.The International Conference on WVD for 2019 was held in Hanoi, Vietnam.
