The meeting was held on 25th June 2021 to decide the criteria for the determination of the merit for the students that want to take admission in the medical and dental colleges. In the meeting, it has been decided that for the upcoming admissions according to the government policy due to the coronavirus pandemic the commission will only consider the elective subjects for MDCAT merit determination. The Pakistan Medical Commission has approved the merit calculation for 2021-2022 admissions to the medical colleges after MDCAT.
New Merit Policy
The policy will be applicable to such students that take their FSc exams in 2021 and who are applying on the basis of the merit of the last year. Earlier the federal minister for education and professional training has announced that this year the students will appear in the elective subjects only. The decision was declared after considering the situation of COVID-19 as the educational institutes have been closed for a long time period.

The Pakistan medical commission has said that all the medical colleges and universities shall ensure that the merit calculation according to the approved policy. For this purpose, the concerned authorities will only consider the FSc or A level or any equivalent HSSC qualification results for the science elective subjects such as Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry, and biology. Notwithstanding the use of the only elective subjects for the preparation of the merit, the students applying for the MDCAT must have obtained 65% marks or more aggregate score in FSc, A level, and in any other qualification equivalent to HSSC as prescribed by the regulations of the commission. The candidates are informed that the PMC has also issued the schedule for the MDCAT 2021 registration. The interested candidates can submit the application form according to the instructions provided to them. PMC will hold the MDCAT from 30th August 2021 to 30th September 2021.
