2. Islamabad police baton-charged protesting doctors

What’s going on? Yesterday, Islamabad police reportedly baton-charged and fired tear gas at young doctors protesting outside the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) building. Doctors were speaking out against the government’s decision to make passing the National Licensing Exam (NLE) mandatory.

The details: According to a statement from the Young Doctors Association (YDA), the police detained around 20 doctors and used force to disperse the remaining protestors. The Islamabad police also released a statement, claiming that the protestors tried to break into the PMC building and vandalize property. The police also claimed that protestors threw stones at them and injured an officer.
