1. PM Sharif wants to resolve the “missing persons” issue in Balochistan

What’s going on? While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Quetta-Karachi highway, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif said he would raise the issue of Balochistan’s missing persons with “powerful quarters.” He added that the government will discuss this issue on the basis of law, justice, and merit.

The details: On Saturday, April 23, Sharif visited Balochistan for the first time since becoming PM. While addressing the public, he talked about various development projects. Sharif also said he wants to see laptops in the hands of Baloch students instead of weapons. He claimed that Balochistan has been neglected throughout the years despite its natural resources and geographical position. He even held a meeting with Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo. They discussed administrative matters, as well as the law and order situation. Sharif stated that enforced disappearances are a major issue in Balochistan.
