1. COVID-19 IN PAKISTAN

  • A suspected Omicron case in Pakistan: Authorities are investigating a “suspected” case of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in Karachi. The patient is an unvaccinated woman. There are conflicting reports about her age, but she is either 57 or 65. The National Institute of Health said the Omicron case is not confirmed yet. However, Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, said, “the way the virus is behaving, it seems like it is Omicron.” The Center for Disease Control said it doesn’t know how easily Omicron spreads, the severity of the illness it causes, or how well existing vaccines work against it. According to The New York Times, health experts claim there is no “firm evidence” that Omicron is more dangerous than previous variants like Delta.
