The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood, has stated that an inter-provincial education ministers’ meeting has been called on Wednesday, March 24, to decide regarding the reopening or further closure of educational institutions in the country amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood, has stated that closing schools will be a difficult decision to take as many students across Pakistan are unhappy with online classes, and the final decision will be taken on 24 March after a detailed review of the pandemic situation. The news was recently announced by Shafqat Mehmood on Twitter.

He noted that the meeting has been called at the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The health officials from all the six administrative units are invited to the meeting. All the officials will brief the meeting and inform the government of the current situation of the Covid-19 cases in their respective provinces. This briefing will help NCOC and educational bodies to finalize an informed decision regarding the reopening of schools.

Last Decision To Close The Educational Institutes

Before this, the government has decided to close the schools from March 15th, 2021 to March 28th, 2021. The federal government had decided to close schools from several parts or areas from KPK, Punjab, and Islamabad. The closing of educational institutes was ensured to restrain the third wave of Covid-19 in the country. The variant, according to scientists, is much more lethal and spreads faster than the original one.
