The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to extend the closure of educational institutions till May 23, 2021. In the meeting, all the provincial education ministers and health ministers participated and the meeting was chaired by the federal minister for education and professional training, Shafqat Mahmood. The NCOC has decided to extend shutdown of educational institutions due to spike in the rate of the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, the National Command and Operation Center had decided to keep the educational institutions closed till May 17.
The NCOC will review the closure of educational institutions in a session on May 18, 2021 to decide about the reopening of the educational institutes by considering the situation of the coronavirus pandemic. To prioritize the safety of the students the government had decided to shut down the schools, colleges, and universities after the spread of the COVID-19.
Earlier the federal education minister, Shafqat Mahmood had announced that the annual exams of matric and intermediate will be conducted after 15th June 2021. The revised examination schedule will be issued by the concerned authorities for the commencement of the exams. The minister had also clarified that the students will not be promoted without the exams the priority will be given to SSC and HSSC annual exams so that the result can be declared at the appropriate time and the students will be able to get admission in the colleges/universities.
