Lahore High Court orders closure of schools for winter vacations

The Lahore High Court has ordered to close the schools from December 23 to the first week of January. Justice Shahid Karim ordered that schools be closed from December 23 to January 4.

Due to smog, the Lahore high court decides to close the education institutes. The Punjab government’s lawyer took a stand in the court that schools across Punjab would be closed from December 23 and a notification would be issued soon. On which the court said that it would further improve the smog. Justice Shahid Karim adjourned the hearing on the petitions till next week.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood also said on Thursday that the winter vacations date for schools will be announced in a couple of days. Shafqat Mehmood said that the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) delayed the winter break due to the ongoing vaccination campaign in educational institutions.

Federal Minister also met Asad Umar and suggested announcing the winter vacations from December 20. Shafqat Mahmood said that winter is hitting its peak and winter vacations should be announced soon. Asad Umar was of the view that winter vacations should be announced after the completion of the ongoing vaccination drive in the institutions.
