The announcement has been made on the official Twitter account of HEC. The higher education commission has announced no deferment of 4-year undergraduate and 2-year associate degrees. The commission clarified that all the news circulating on the social media platforms regarding the abolishment of 4-year undergraduate and 2-year associate degrees is fake and incorrect. The vice chancellor’s meeting was held on 2nd June in which it has been directed that the above-mentioned degree programs will be taught in the colleges and universities and candidates can take admission in them without any inconvenience. In the meeting, the vice-chancellors of all the universities participated. The meeting was held to address certain issues raised by the implementation of HEC’s undergraduate policy and policy on Ph.D. programs.
Abolishment of 2-Year Programs
It has been said that the transition from BA/BSc program to associate degree program and phasing out of MA/MSc program will continue according to the decision that had been taken earlier by the commission. Previously the commission said to abolish the 2-year degree programs to promote quality education among the students. In this regard, the instructions had been also issued to all the universities.
The Decision of HEC
The reference for deferring the implementation of both the policies such as undergraduate education policy and policy on Ph.D. programs until Fall 2022 may be placed before the higher education commission for consideration. The summary based on the recommendations of the vice-chancellors will be taken to the commission highlighting the factual position and requesting for allowing proposed amendments to facilitate the implementation of both the policies. The universities that are willing to adopt them or already adopted undergraduate policy and policy for the Ph.D. programs may continue with its implementation diligently.
