HEC Issues To Avoid Getting Enrolled For Two Years Bachelor’s and Master’s Study Programs In 2021

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has asked students not to take admissions in unauthorized two-year BA/BSc or MA/MSc programs in 2021. Through an official statement on Sunday HEC has declared that these degree programs are discarded due to quality concerns. Through an official statement, HEC has revealed that some universities are still offering admissions to these mentioned degree programs for the sake of tuition fees. But students must avoid getting admissions to these programs because “These discarded degrees will not enable students to apply for jobs or further education,”.

“The HEC cannot recognize the degrees of students enrolled in conventional BA/BSc programs after December 31, 2020, and the last date for admission in conventional MA/MSc programs is March 31, 2021,” it said.

Decision For BA/BSC and MA/MSC Programs

In 2011, BA/BSC and MA/MSC programs were replaced with an alternative Associate Degree program. This Associate Degree is equivalent to 14 years of education and allows students to get admission in the 5th semester of the BS programs in the relevant subjects. However, students will be provided admissions to the 5th semester after fulfilling the universities’ requirements.

The transition period was stopped in 2016 and the final decision to stop the two-year BA/BSC and MA/MSC program was taken on Dec 31st, 2018, and Dec 31st, 2020 respectively.

Deadlines For MA/MSC Admissions

The higher education commission has also decided that the final exams of the BA/BSC programs would be held in 2020 and the admission session for the last batch of the MA/MSC programs would take place until December 31st, 2020. “The HEC cannot recognize degrees of students who are enrolled in conventional BA/BSc programs after December 31, 2018. Likewise, the last date for admission in conventional MA/MSc programs is March 31, 2021,” . Moreover, the admission session for the last batch of MA/MSC programs has also been extended to March 31st, 2021. Before this deadline, no admission will be allowed.
