The higher education commission Of Pakistan in collaboration with Coursera has launched the Phase-II of the Digital Learning and Skills Enrichment Initiative (DLSEI). After the successful completion of Phase I, the HEC and Coursera have joined hands once again to provide better facilities to all the universities so that they can quality education with highly qualified faculty members. The launching ceremony was held in Islamabad and attended by the federal minister for education and professional training, Shafqat Mahmood along with the Executive Director HEC, CEO Coursera, Vice-Chancellors, and many students.
Online Learning and Skills Development
Digital Learning and Skills Enrichment Initiative was started by the higher education commission to offer the best online education facilities to the students. Through this initiative, the HEC will enhance the online learning and skills development among the students by offering them more than 1000 courses and various learning tracks. While addressing the launching ceremony the federal education minister has said that the education system of Pakistan is facing many challenges and the need of the hour is to eliminate them so the students can get a quality education without any hurdle. Moreover, there is a great need for skill development in the country, and by taking the courses offered by Coursera the students will learn a lot.
Online Courses
The minister added that during the COVID-19 many gaps were identified as many of the faculty members remain unable to teach inline and at the same time the students could not understand the lectures through the online classes. So by online courses under DLSEI will improve the employability of the youth of Pakistan so that they can play a significant role in the country’s socio-economic development. The students after taking the online courses can easily access the other courses offered by the top universities of the world.
