The meeting was held to analyze the situation of the pandemic and to take the decision and the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali decided to shut down the schools and the colleges from 26th July 2021 across the province due to a spike in Coronavirus cases. Moreover, he said that the annual board exams will be conducted according to the schedule issued by the board authorities. There will be no delay in the annual exams and the students have to appear in the board examination in order to get promoted to the next grade. The minister also added that the government and private institutions will function with 50% staff members only.
The Decision Of Private Schools Association
But the private school associations have rejected the decision of the Sindh government to shut down the schools. It has been said that the new academic year is supposed to start from August and due to the extended closure of the educational institutes it is not possible to stop the academic activities as the students will not be able to start the new academic sessions according to the proposed schedule.
Extension In Summer Vacations
The private schools associations suggested that the summer vacations can be extended till 31st July 2021 to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic as closing the schools and colleges is not the only solution. Sindh convener of the Grand Alliance of private school associations clarified that almost 80% of staff members have been vaccinated so the chance of prevalence of COVID-19 is low. Moreover, there will be also strict implementation of SOPs in all the private educational institutes to ensure the safety of students and staff members. The meeting of all provincial private schools associations will be held on July 26 to decide the future action plan regarding the closure of educational institutes.
