• In March 2020, schools across the country shutdown due to a COVID-19 outbreak. On September 15, educational institutions started reopening in phases after six months. For now, grades 9-10, plus colleges and universities, have reopened. However, in the last 48 hours, at least 22 educational institutions had to shutdown for failing to comply with COVID-19 prevention measures. Around 16 of these educational institutions were in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 1 in Islamabad, and 5 in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

3. Upcoming UN film will feature Malala Yousafzai

The UN is releasing a collective action special, Nations United: Urgent Solutions for Urgent Times, in an effort to create change. The film will feature Pakistani education advocate and Nobel Laureate, Yousafzai, along with other UN goodwill ambassadors, sustainable development advocates, UN officials and women’s rights activists. The film will feature a new version of a previous UN performance by multi-Grammy award winning artist, Beyonce. Actress, Julia Roberts, will also host a radio broadcast and podcast version of the show. The film will be broadcast on the UN YouTube channel, and global broadcast channels/radio stations, on September 19, 9pm ET.
