2. Accomplice discovered in court shooting incident
A lawyer in Pakistan named Tufail Zia reportedly helped Faisal Khan kill US citizen, Tahir Naseem, inside a courtroom last month in Peshawar. The lawyer allegedly snuck a gun into the building and gave it to Khan, who then shot Naseem in public. Naseem was on trial for blasphemy after allegedly declaring himself Islam’s prophet. However, rights activists claim that Naseem had mental health issues. Khan was taken into custody on the spot and now claims he had an accomplice. Zia didn’t have anything to do with the court proceedings. However, due to his lawyer status, he was able to bypass heavy security. Zia has reportedly been arrested as well, and will remain in custody while police investigate. Religious radicals praised Khan for shooting Naseem.
Backstory:Pakistan’s blasphemy laws can come with a death penalty. A mere blasphemy allegation that hasn’t even been proven can be life threatening, since mobs and vigilantes bring it upon themselves to kill accused individuals. Even attempts to amend the blasphemy laws spark outrage.

President Alvi was giving a recap of PTI’s accomplishments during its two years in power.
