1. COVID-19 IN PAKISTAN

2.  Pakistani-American motel owner shot dead in Connecticut over $10 pool pass: 30-year-old Pakistani-American Zeshan Chaudhry was shot dead on June 27 at the Motel 6 he owned in Vernon, Connecticut, the USA after an argument over a $10 pool pass. According to reports, 31-year-old suspect Alvin Waugh shot Chaudhry with a homemade gun after Chaudhry asked Waugh to pay $10 for a pool pass when Waugh wanted to pay $5. Waugh’s bond was lowered from $5 million to $2 million, and he’s set to appear in Rockville Superior Court on July 30. He also confessed to the killing and told police that he discarded his gun in a body of water after he shot Chaudhry.

  • Tell me more: Chaudhry’s family rallied for justice outside the family-owned motel and called for a change to avoid a repeat of what happened to him. In an Instagram post, Chaudhry’s brother Ali called him a man of “principle, respect, and honor.” Chaudhry and his fiance were planning to get married in a few months, his fiance said.

3. Pakistan’s Prime Minister remembers Dilip Kumar:Actor Dilip Kumar died at the age of 98 yesterday in Mumbai. He was reportedly considered one of Indian cinema’s “most respected” and “greatest” actors. According to a doctor treating him, Kumar had been unwell for some time. Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed condolences on Twitter and wrote that Kumar helped raise funds for Shaukat Khanum Hospital when the project first launched. PM Khan also said, “for my generation, Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor.” Kumar lived in Mumbai, India, but had an ancestral home in Peshawar, a city in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Authorities in Peshawar are planning to restore Kumar’s ancestral home.
