- CAA mandates quarantine at ‘designated facility’ for international passengers testing positive: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has updated travel requirements for all international inbound passengers effective August 9; passengers above 12 years of age who test positive for COVID-19 will have to quarantine at a “designated facility” while those between the ages of six and 12 years will have to quarantine at home. Additionally, all inbound passengers six years and older will have to provide a negative PCR test 72 hours before flying as well as undergo a Rapid Antigen Testing upon arrival in Pakistan. Earlier in June the government lifted the requirement to quarantine at home if inbound passengers test negative.
- UAE allows transit flights from Pakistan, other countries Aug 5 onwards: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) lifted its flight ban on transit passengers flying in from Pakistan, India, Nigeria and other countries August 5 onward. The UAE embassy in Pakistan tweeted that passengers from Pakistan will be allowed to transit provided the traveler’s last destination accepts “submission of laboratory examination” within 72 hours of departure. UAE airports will allocate special lounges for passengers transiting through the UAE, the tweet said. The ban on entry to the UAE will also be lifted for passengers from these countries who have valid residencies. Passengers with residencies still have to be fully vaccinated and present a negative PCR test taken 48 hours before departure.
