1. COVID-19 IN PAKISTAN

  • 24-hour recap: Pakistan reported 2,819 cases and 45 deaths in 24 hours. Pakistan also conducted 44,579 tests in the span of 24 hours (P.S. this data was last updated on July 25 at 2:14 pm).
  • Sindh reports the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a year: Sindh reported 2,343 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest number since 2,430 infections were recorded July 2, 2020. Sindh now has 367,075 cases and 5,833 deaths. Karachi’s positivity rate has soared to 24.82 percent. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called this a “very serious situation” and urged people to follow COVID-19 regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Unvaccinated people banned from domestic flights: National Command and Operation Centre has decided to ban unvaccinated people 18 years or older from traveling on domestic flights from August 1 onwards. Those flying in or out of Pakistan are exempt from this restriction, as well as people on connecting flights within 72 hours of arrival or departure. Additionally, partially vaccinated individuals, foreign nationals, Pakistani citizens who received their vaccination abroad and those clinically advised against getting vaccinated are also exempt from the domestic flight restriction.
