2. Is Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan marching to Islamabad?

What’s going on? Earlier on Sunday, Interior Minister, Sheikh Rashid, said the banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) group will not continue its march towards Islamabad since negotiations had “almost succeeded.” Specifically, Rashid said TLP members will continue their sit-in until Monday or Tuesday, but not go to Islamabad.

The details: Rashid said detained TLP protesters will be released, and that both he and Minister of Religious Affairs, Noorul Haq Qadri, will ask a Parliament committee to discuss the removal of the French ambassador. Rashid said there is currently no French ambassador in Pakistan. Instead, a senior diplomat is looking after the embassy. When a journalist asked Rashid if the government will release TLP chief, Saad Hussain Rizvi, he said, “we’re working on it.”
