A resolution on expelling the French ambassador<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The far-right religious\u00a0Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP)\u00a0party wants the French ambassador out of Pakistan.\u00a0The govt requested\u00a0a National Assembly session\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1619319\/govt-presents-resolution-for-debate-on-expelling-french-envoy-in-na\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-falkjt-iluykthdp-m\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1619142686895000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFxdqoQHfBFWvkrNVe_TdhSsmWxxw\">debate on a resolution<\/a>, which calls\u00a0for the expulsion of France\u2019s ambassador. The govt is presenting the resolution in Parliament as part of its negotiation terms with TLP. In\u00a0return, the govt said TLP will\u00a0stop protesting.\u00a0A lawmaker from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party presented the resolution,\u00a0which condemned the publication of caricatures depicting\u00a0the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in France. The resolution referred to these caricatures as &#8220;blasphemous.&#8221;\u00a0The resolution also accused French President, Emmanuel Macron, of encouraging elements\u00a0that hurt the sentiments of Muslims.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>So how did the session go?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>There was a lot of noise, but we want to get to the point. Opposition members want\u00a0to have more of a say in the resolution, and are upset the govt didn&#8217;t loop them in sooner.\u00a0However, they&#8217;re all on the same page about protecting<em>\u00a0Namoos-e-Risalat<\/em>\u00a0(i.e. the Holy Prophet&#8217;s honor), which is mentioned in the resolution. Now, opposition members have\u00a02-3 days to give their\u00a0input on the resolution. The House speaker adjourned the session until 11am on Friday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Something to know:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>While reading out the resolution, PTI lawmaker\u00a0Amjid Ali Khan said the state should make decisions regarding international relations, not a person, group or party.
