He said he surrendered to the army after making a deal, but since that deal wasn&#8217;t honored, he\u00a0escaped.\u00a0Pakistani analysts and experts have doubts about\u00a0Ehsan&#8217;s escape story. Some think the state\u00a0turned\u00a0Ehsan\u00a0into an asset\/informant, and that his claims about escaping are just a cover up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Something to know:\u00a0<\/strong>On February 16,\u00a0someone who claimed\u00a0to be Ehsan reportedly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nayadaur.tv\/2021\/02\/how-did-taliban-spokesman-ehsanullah-ehsan-escape-malala-asks-pm-imran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-akuhrky-iluykthdp-d\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1614388741773000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHbaKoaWVZsKjAFf9qVu-dSzMLjBg\">threatened<\/a>\u00a0<wbr \/>Pakistani Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai, and her father on Twitter. Ehsan was also charged for his involvement in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1151361\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-akuhrky-iluykthdp-o\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1614388741774000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGPnEYHYWxRoNAMWpTGon0JpnQABg\">2014\u00a0Army Public School attack<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Taliban gunmen barged\u00a0into the school and killed 144 people, mostly schoolchildren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The bottom line:<\/strong>\u00a0Iftikhar said Ehsan&#8217;s escape was &#8220;a very serious matter.&#8221; However, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Even though\u00a0Iftikhar said some army officials were responsible for Ehsan&#8217;s\u00a0escape, there&#8217;s no clear answer on what role they played, or how exactly they were responsible. Also, Iftikhar didn&#8217;t go into detail about the action taken against these\u00a0army officials.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>3. New law bans corporal punishment in Islamabad<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The National Assembly passed a bill\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1608981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-akuhrky-iluykthdp-m\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1614388741774000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHMSbf3edCN1Si-LDxPPDRKrid1cQ\">banning all forms of corporal punishment<\/a>\u00a0in Islamabad. Now, the new proposed law\u00a0will penalize teachers who assault or hurt children in any context. Basically, there are no exceptions, regardless of intention.
