The sitting govt usually appoints and instructs prosecution lawyers. The prosecution team under the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) isn&#8217;t around anymore. According to PM Khan&#8217;s counsel,\u00a0Abdullah Babar Awan, the prosecutor is on board with acquitting PM Khan since the charges against him are baseless.\u00a0Awan also\u00a0claimed there was zero evidence to prove PM Khan&#8217;s\u00a0involvement in the case. Fun fact: Awan is\u00a0the son of PM Khan&#8217;s Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs, Babar Awan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>3. Pakistan condemns knife attack in French church<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>An attacker in France used a knife to behead\u00a0one elderly woman and kill\u00a0two others (i.e. a man and a woman). The attack took place at a church in the city of Nice. According to Nice Mayor, Christian Estrosi, the attacker yelled &#8220;Allahu Akbar&#8221; (i.e. God is greatest). Police shot and detained a male suspect. The suspect is a 21-year-old Tunisian national who arrived in France earlier this month. The suspected assailant was an 18-year-old Russian national of Chechen origin. Police have not confirmed a motive behind the church attack. However, the attack follows days of protests\u00a0in some Muslim-majority countries, which started after\u00a0President Macron said\u00a0France would\u00a0not &#8220;give up&#8221; the caricatures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>4. Alleged abduction and forced conversion of Christian child<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The parents of Arzoo Raja, a 13-year-old Pakistani-Christian girl, claimed their daughter was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indcatholicnews.com\/news\/40767\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-ajridkt-iluykthdp-o\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1604169809818000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF-exZPOu-A_uAvwpndumUHDSmRiw\">abducted and forced to marry<\/a>\u00a0Ali Azhar, a\u00a043 or 44-year-old Muslim man. Raja\u2019s father told police his daughter was abducted from their family home in Karachi on October 13. Two days later, police told the family Raja married Azhar. Police also claimed she \u201cwillingly\u201d converted to Islam. According to police, Azhar shared a marriage certificate, which stated Raja was 18-years-old. Raja&#8217;s parents\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.persecution.org\/2020\/10\/28\/parents-13-year-old-abduction-victim-pakistan-appeal-return-daughter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-ajridkt-iluykthdp-b\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1604169809818000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFaiT0lVnhHmcYLa3APTjDiEvyjpQ\">said<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;the abductor and his supporters are terrifying us and we are in danger from these people. Please listen to our appeal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Now what?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Raja&#8217;s parents produced a birth certificate showing she&#8217;s 13-years-old. However, the Sindh High Court (SHC) ruled the marriage was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indcatholicnews.com\/news\/40782\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-ajridkt-iluykthdp-n\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1604169809818000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHdDE9U1oQ5bHn48o0kzy1X1aJHMA\">valid<\/a>, even though\u00a0the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act makes it illegal to marry\u00a0someone who is underage.
