Very long story short, Noorani claimed that the Bajwa family owns a massive business empire, which includes 99 companies in four countries, and a pizza franchise with 133 restaurants. According to Noorani, Bajwa said he and his wife don\u2019t have immovable property or business capital outside of Pakistan. However, Noorani pointed to official documents, which reportedly show Bajwa\u2019s wife as an equal shareholder in the businesses of Bajco Group, along with Bajwa\u2019s five brothers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>The bottom line:\u00a0<\/strong>Bajwa reportedly decided to quit after talking to his family. He also wants to put all his energy into the multi-billion dollar CPEC project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> <strong>Destructive rain in KP<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We have been reading a lot of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">news<\/span>\u00a0about monsoon rain wreaking havoc in Pakistan\u2019s financial capital, Karachi. Since last week, residents have been dealing with power cuts, mobile network outages, and shortages of both fuel and cash. However, another province in Pakistan is also getting battered with rain. APOTOA Senior Vice-Chairman, Mir Shams Shahwani, suspended the supply of oil from the terminal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Where did the fire start?<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0The fire started in the Shell Oil Depot at Keamari Terminal-1. According to a spokesperson for Shell Pakistan Limited, a PSO import line passing inside Shell Pakistan\u2019s Terminal-1 at Keamari caught fire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>How long did it take to put out the fire?\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Authorities reportedly acted quickly.\u00a0It took the fire brigade four hours to control the blaze. The Pakistan Navy also helped extinguish the fire. Rangers and paramilitary personnel supported rescue efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>What caused the fire?<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s still not clear what exactly caused the fire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>5.<\/strong> <strong>PM orders release of sick or older women prisoners<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a landmark decision, PM Khan ordered authorities to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/d2879654d19047a1170dc34c908a571b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-alywdd-iluykthdp-p\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1599362076380000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEAm-zVEUolC17yqK91pbW35Yl6QA\">release<\/a>\u00a0all women prisoners who have a physical or mental illness, and who are 55+ years old. PM Khan also announced that all juvenile prisoners will be released. A Pakistani court reportedly ordered these releases months ago. PM Khan also requested a report on\u00a0foreign women in Pakistani prisons, including the ones on death row, in order to consider their release on humanitarian grounds.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Backstory:<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Out of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gulftoday.ae\/news\/2020\/09\/02\/pakistan-pm-orders-for-immediate-release-of-women-prisoners-under-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-alywdd-iluykthdp-x\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1599362076380000&amp;usg=AFQjCNELCVmZNcYWXo-OQg2IFSs5io9p8g\">73,242 prisoners<\/a>\u00a0incarcerated in jails across Pakistan, around 1,121 are women, which makes them 1.5% of the total prison population. These women are either on trial, or have been convicted of a crime.\u00a0Women in Pakistan\u2019s prisons are often\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tribune.com.pk\/story\/2234876\/plight-female-prisoners\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-alywdd-iluykthdp-m\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1599362076380000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGeM1V5N3eIHX3Hzo-WpPWyqMiiJw\">neglected<\/a>. Some of them are still waiting for a trial, and others are facing the death penalty. Women prisoners are reportedly subjected to coercion, harassment and torture. Many have shown signs of depression, stress, sleep disorder, and general anxiety. In most cases, children who have nowhere else to go live with their mothers in prison.
