Many cities in Pakistan actually struggle to cope with the annual monsoon deluge, causing a lot of public outcry over poor planning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\"><strong>3.<\/strong> <strong>Doctor and other suspects booked in suicide case<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A 24-year-old woman doctor named Maha Shah allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself at her home in Karachi\u2019s Defence area. Following a complaint from her father, the police\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1576705\/doctor-others-booked-in-dr-maha-suicide-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/newsletter.thenewsrun.com\/t\/j-l-qukhjkd-iluykthdp-p\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1598724454534000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE2w1M-eqwN2Lwp6MztYqR_g8pCXg\">registered a First Information Report (FIR)<\/a>\u00a0against Junaid Khan, Dr. Irfan Qureshi and three others on charges of \u201ccriminal intimidation,\u201d \u201ccommon intention (i.e. pre-arranged plan), and \u201ccausing hurt by means of poison.\u201d Before committing suicide, Dr. Shah told her family she was being \u201cblackmailed,\u201d \u201cthreatened\u201d and \u201chumiliated.\u201d Dr. Shah\u2019s father believes the suspects mentioned in the FIR are responsible for her suicide.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Backstory:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>According to the FIR, Dr. Shah became friends with Khan, who allegedly coerced her into misusing cocaine and other drugs. Khan allegedly beat her as well. Then, Dr. Shah apparently met someone who wanted to marry her. That\u2019s when Khan reportedly started threatening her. Dr. Shah told her friend Dr. Qureshi about what was going on, and he allegedly took advantage of the situation by bringing her to his home, giving her a lot of drugs, and doing unspecified \u201cobjectionable\u201d things to her. Dr. Shah reportedly left Dr. Qureshi&#8217;s\u00a0house feeling angry. This was the same day she committed suicide.
